Singapore Slingers are favourites for 2nd seed in the Brunei Cup after beating underachievers Jordan All-Stars last night at the Indoor Stadium, Berakas. The defeat for Jordanians make it their fourth loss in the tournament and their final spot for the last four will be determined by tomorrow's result.

Jordan All-Stars came into the tournament with their heads up high as their head coach believed that the Jordan All-Star are an improved side compared to last year's squad. However, they weren't able to turn their performance into results. The only consolation they have is the emergence of their new found talent Imad Kahwash. Though Imad had a low key effort (8 points) against the Slingers, he is one of the driving force in the Jordanian offence. When on form, Imad can be lethal especially when combined with team captain Abdallah who had a fine display with 30 points and 11 rebounds against the Slingers.

Slingers, on the other hand, have guaranteed their place in the final four and it was also a comfortable victory despite Jordan All-Stars leading by half time (35-33). Then it was a straight forward game for the Singapore Slingers after the break. Darren Ng was on a hot streak, pouring in 27 points while Eric Sandrin scored 15 points before being fouled out.

Gordon McLeod, the head coach of Singapore Slingers, praised the Jordan All-Stars as they have improved from last year. However, he wasn't happy with his team because Slingers gave away unnecessary turn overs in the first half. "But in the second half, we defended well and this is a good team performance considering we only trained in a short period of time," said McLeod.

"We don't have any injury worries at the moment but as we progress, there will be some wear and tear. We are treating the Brunei Cup as our training camp for our upcoming tournament."
